Intern/Trainee Program USA

Program Introduction

The Trainee category is governed by regulations in [22 CFR 62.22]. This program helps exchange visitors improve their professional skills through structured training in the U.S., focusing on American methods and expertise. Training must not repeat previous experience. The program cannot be used for regular employment, and trainees cannot replace regular employees. Recent rule updates removed the “specialty” and “non-specialty” occupation distinction, created a new internship program, and updated participation criteria. Sponsors must vet and sign agreements with any third parties helping with recruitment and training. A completed Form DS-7002 (Training/Internship Placement Plan) is required before issuing Form DS-2019. Flight training rules remain unchanged.
