Short-term Study Program

2025-05-09

In the heat of summer, I embarked on a 14-day study tour of Hong Kong and Macau. This was not only an in-depth exploration of the history and culture of Hong Kong and Macau, but also a comprehensive examination of the economic and social development, education systems, and innovative technologies of the two places. From the weight of history to future technologies, from the fusion of cultures to educational innovation, this experience was like a vivid epic, opening up a whole new world for me.

I. First Acquaintance with Hong Kong: Echoes of History and Modern Symphony

Hong Kong, this international metropolis, its history is like a dramatic symphony. At the Hong Kong Museum of History, I seemed to travel through time, from the origins of a small fishing village, to the changes during the British colonial period, and then to the prosperity after the return to China. Every picture and every object tells the story of this city. Walking among the skyscrapers of Central, I felt the modern atmosphere of Hong Kong as an international financial center. The bustling scene of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange gave me a more intuitive understanding of economics and finance. History and modernity are wonderfully intertwined here, like an unfinished movement.

II. Visiting Macau: A Treasure of Cultural Exchange

Moving to Macau, the historical imprints are even more profound. Under the Ruins of St. Paul's, I could almost hear the bells of the former church; beside the ruins of St. Paul's College, the collision and fusion of Eastern and Western cultures are like a beautiful painting. Another side of Macau is its prosperity as an international tourism and entertainment center. The Venetian Macao not only allowed me to appreciate Macau's economic vitality, but also made me think about the role of tourism in urban development.

III. Education and Technology: Seeds of Innovation and the Power of the Future

Visits to the University of Hong Kong and the University of Macau allowed me to see the characteristics and international perspectives of education in the two places. Exchanges with students and professors gave me a deeper understanding of academic research and international education. The visit to the Hong Kong Science Park and the experience of the smart campus at the University of Macau were even more impressive, showcasing the achievements of the two places in technological research and development, innovative applications, and the construction of smart cities. The seeds of innovation are taking root here, and the hope for the future is nurtured in technology.

IV. Reflections and Growth: Cross-cultural Exchange and the Cultivation of Global Thinking

This study tour was not only a feast of knowledge, but also a testament to my growth. Through exchanges with people from different cultural backgrounds, I learned to respect differences and enhanced my cross-cultural communication skills. A deeper understanding of the positioning and challenges of Hong Kong and Macau as international cities broadened my international perspective, inspiring my enthusiasm for learning and my desire for innovation. I began to think about how to integrate this global thinking into my daily studies and future plans, becoming a talented individual with global competitiveness.

At the end of the 14-day study tour, what surged in my heart was not only excitement about what I had seen and heard, but also an unprecedented sense of growth and mission. This unforgettable study tour of Hong Kong and Macau was like a vivid educational journey. Hong Kong and Macau, these two cities, with their unique charm, allowed me to feel the depth of culture in the long river of history, experience the vitality of society in the pulse of the economy, understand the power of knowledge in educational practice, and see the hope of the future at the forefront of technology. It not only gave me a more comprehensive and profound understanding of Hong Kong and Macau, but also subtly shaped my global vision and cross-cultural communication abilities. I will transform what I have seen, heard, felt, and understood on this study tour into motivation for learning and future planning, looking forward to bringing this growth and harvest to a wider world.

This journey, like a vivid educational documentary, recorded my exploration and growth in Hong Kong and Macau. I look forward to my next departure, to continue exploring the unknown world.
